Benefits of Pilates.

Pilates is a body conditioning routine that may help build flexibility, muscle strength, and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips and back

It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing, and developing a strong core or center, and improving coordination and balance. Pilates' system allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginning to advanced. Pilates can help many health conditions, including Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Low back pain, Rehabilitation following surgery, Stress and many more….

Pilates improves muscle tone, balances musculature, supports correct posture, and teaches to move with ease and grace. There is an increasing number of studies which are showing the benefits of Pilates in the rehab population It is useful for improving balance, lumbar stabilization and flexibility, lower back pain, and pelvic floor dysfunction.

The Principles of Pilates

The original six principles are concentration, control, centering, flow, precision and breathing. Elaine teaches Classical Pilates, which encompasses all of the priciples as Joseph Pilates originally intended.

Precautions

Safety is always involved in every aspect of the Pilates work-out, therefore there are precautions, modifications and protocols developed over decades within the knowledge of Pilates itself, that a fully qualified Pilates instructor should know and follow when working-out people with certain conditions, e.g., during pregnancy, after birth, or with specific issues with their body. Safe teaching involves additional comprehensive inspection of the Pilates apparatus regularly and the way it is set up prior to a lesson
